Demystifying IBPS: The Number Game

Ok..Now, since there is still time till we get our score cards from IBPS for PO/MT CWE , results of which were declared on 12/12/2011, i thought to utilise the time and try and break the big numbers , adding assumptions..A bit of Facts and lots of Fiction...

Here we start..
So, as now we all 'affected' parties know that about 14 LAKHS applications came and about 10 lakh took the first CWE for P.O/ M.T recruitment in 19 banks.
source: ibps website

Now, According to the the hindu business line newspaper about 1,11,993 candidates qualified..i.e about 1,12,000.

Now, If this number is based on Number of Applicants appeared i.e 10lakhs.. it is great work on shortlisting the candidates...i.e Only 10% qualified for the next round.

But But...If we see the data of previous years..as to how many candidates the banks called for final selection or interviews...We are in TROUBLE...and What we achieved is somewhat confusing...
Look at the chart i prepared...and you would know what am talking about...

To summarise ,What it actually describes in terms of data is that ...Banks Usually call about 4-5k i.e about 5 thousand people for interviews and this is a quite a number bcoz as known Senior Managerial Level people are involved in interview panels..and for them to be away from office (for 10-15 days) is something which the banks would like to minimise and not extend..

So if thats the case ....Banks would like to still lower the candidates to the same level of 4-5 thousand , to keep the process as small as possible and thus abt 6-7 % of IBPS CWE Pass candidates which is top 6-7 thousand candidates should expect calls for inetrviews in initial banking excercises.....

And hence with a Heavy Sigh..Like others I await for my Score card..Hoping to make it to that top list...Coz the next IBPS is not very far away...and next time its gonna be harder and more competitive than this one...

PS: I wish am wrong here....
