Demystifying IBPS: The Number Game
Ok..Now, since there is still time till we get our score cards from IBPS for PO/MT CWE , results of which were declared on 12/12/2011, i thought to utilise the time and try and break the big numbers , adding assumptions..A bit of Facts and lots of Fiction...
Here we start..
So, as now we all 'affected' parties know that about 14 LAKHS applications came and about 10 lakh took the first CWE for P.O/ M.T recruitment in 19 banks.
source: ibps website
Now, According to the the hindu business line newspaper about 1,11,993 candidates qualified..i.e about 1,12,000.
Now, If this number is based on Number of Applicants appeared i.e 10lakhs.. it is great work on shortlisting the candidates...i.e Only 10% qualified for the next round.
But But...If we see the data of previous years..as to how many candidates the banks called for final selection or interviews...We are in TROUBLE...and What we achieved is somewhat confusing...
Look at the chart i prepared...and you would know what am talking about...
To summarise ,What it actually describes in terms of data is that ...Banks Usually call about 4-5k i.e about 5 thousand people for interviews and this is a quite a number bcoz as known Senior Managerial Level people are involved in interview panels..and for them to be away from office (for 10-15 days) is something which the banks would like to minimise and not extend..
So if thats the case ....Banks would like to still lower the candidates to the same level of 4-5 thousand , to keep the process as small as possible and thus abt 6-7 % of IBPS CWE Pass candidates which is top 6-7 thousand candidates should expect calls for inetrviews in initial banking excercises.....
And hence with a Heavy Sigh..Like others I await for my Score card..Hoping to make it to that top list...Coz the next IBPS is not very far away...and next time its gonna be harder and more competitive than this one...
PS: I wish am wrong here....

HOW To FILE RTI To IBPS : Well Actually You CANNOT RTI IBPS
Recently, The results of the IBPS CWE for P.O/M.T have been declared..
And there have been few surpised results and some dissatisfaction among the candidates who did not qualify.
As such, the IBPS keeping with its Nonsense of Secrecy and old mentality has chosen NOT TO PUBLISH FULL RESULTS BUT ONLY PASS/FAIL STATUS , so the discontent is jusitifed.
Dunno when these people will learn that Openness and Transparency only would strengthen their Image among the people/candidates and not diminish it.
Anyway..Moving back to the topic..For those who have failed the test and want to know their marks through filling RTI , Well there is Bad News for you...
IBPS CANNOT BE RTI'ied...IBPS 'DOES NOT' fall under RTI...
This is the Reason One does not find the RTI ACT link onIBPS website
To those who are thinking about then why they got marks when they RTI'ied the banks before as exams were coducted by IBPS then also...
But then , what had happened was that ..On responding to one appeal of a candidates, the Banks were asked to get information sourced from IBPS and give it to the applicant.
But since in this case, NO BANK IS INVOLVED IN TEST PHASE...And hence RTI will not be applicable...
This was a discussion topic on RTI forum...Here is the link, if u want to look at the discussion on rti-india forum
So, the only hope left is that IBPS itself becomes more Open and atleast give information to the 10 lakh applicants , as to how they performed, specially to the Unsuccesful candidates...So that they may improve upon the shortcomings and weaknesses.
But as of Now News is that IBPS WILL NOT ENTERTAIN RTI APPLICATIONS AS IBPS DOES NOT FALL UNDER THE AMBIT OF RTI ACT 2005

Using RTI (Right to Information ) to access your marks details in Govt Exams..
In this post , i shall post info on how to file an RTI in case you require to access information about your performance in Govt Exams like Bank exams, SSC exams, or state govt held exam by them directly or through some organisation..
Under Right to Information - 2005 , We can access this information in detail alongwith demanding access to even the answer sheets and verifying the marks.
For this Two important point one must note:
1) The Application should be sent by Speed post / registered ad post and reciept of the same be kept , preferraby speed post according to me as we can track the movement through web.
2) Must attach the requisite fees of Rs 10 (in most states) in the form of IPO (Indian Postal Order) or Crossed Bank draft.IPO can be obtained from any post office.
Now a sample RTI for accessing marks details and answer sheet. I used this applicantion for accessing my answer sheets from CDAC , Mohali who had conducted test on behalf of PSSSB , Punjab for Punjab govt jobs.
I got the reply within 30-35 days.. which is the allowed time in case of RTI.
PS: Don't forget to add RIGHT TO INFORMATION ACT -2005 for seeking information.
Likewise don't forget to mention I AM A CITIZEN OF INDIA (check sample rti below)

Aviva Donate a BOOK campaign : Path Breaker
I recently came across this campaign launched by AVIVA Insurance company for donating books for street children.
I shall post the link at the end.. But i want to share something uniue in this campaign..
What is unique about the campaign is the way to contribute through SMS and Mobile Balance..
Yes, this is a path breaking use of technology and am very much advocating its use for e-commerce and m-commerce..
Through this campaign , we can just send a sms 'BOOK' to 58910 to contribute Rs 10 towards the campaign . The cost of the sms sent is Rs 10.
The greatness of this method is that, we Indians are very much interested to contribute to charity as seen from the beggars we generously give alms to but because the process to donate for charity is so difficult/ cumbersome and out of reach of common Indians that we do not contribute to even good cahrity campigns like this one.
But with Aviva launching sms donation whereby one sms cost is Rs 10 (for vodafone customers) and deduction will be from the main balance of the phone or will be clubbed in bill payment it will be a success as mobile penetration has reached to almost all parts of country and we i.e India has crossed the mobile density of 50% long ago.
So expecting large number to contributors.
But most importantly ..Not Paisa Pay , Not Pay pal but this is the future for E-commerce ....This is the way forward..
Link for the AVIVA GREAT WALL OF EDUCATION CAMPAIGN. DONATE A BOOK
Ps: Am doing my bit by sending sms 'BOOK' to 58910 , Its your turn now.
update: Sending the sms it sends failure report. Verify at your end if it works..I should have checked before posting...Ooops..

Police Is Corrupt, Proved: Passport Application continues.. Final Part
Oh my God...I can't believe what just happened...Well I knew this happens but the manner in which this happened was disturbing and shocking....
Went to the Police Station with required documentation i.e Rationcard verification of both mentioned witnesses and their signatures on the given document by the officer incharge earlier to me. 3 Passport size photographs of your and my rationcard was also attached...
Initially after thinking Not to pay anything for so called ''chai-paani' or whatever you may call it..I Could NOT muster the courage of doing so...Yes i accept...I could not muster the courage to say NO to a police officer...
So i thought , will give Rs 200 first..he would refuse and then finally offer Rs 300 and theat would be it.
But but...It did not go as planned or as i thought atleast..
He i.e the police officer attended me in five minutes of reaching his office..
Next five minutes , all the formalities were completed..He was disturbed for some internal dept thing and had to go..So he asked me.. to do it fast as he had to go..
I bit hasitant ,i.e offering Money to a Duty officer....took out Rs 200 , which made him angry and he instead offered 500 back...lolzz...
His justification for money was he had to do paperwork and at everystage monedy would be paid...He was just going to do same to his officer for some internal work (he had recieved a call just then and was going to settle that only ).
I took out hundred more...300..he said what are you doing..POORE KAR JALDI...
MAIN TE VAPIS BHEJ DENE HAI..I will tell them papers were not complete and objection will be made to your application...
Shocked at this...I said ok.. here Rs 400....He again refused and started walking out of the office , he said keep it.. i will send the form incomplete...
HE WENT OUT...
AT THAT POINT, I WAS ANGRY...VERY ANGRY AND SAID SO BE IT ..THIS IS NOT DONE..WHY SHOULD I PAY...
I HAD ALMOST DECIDED TO WALK OUT...
But then i saw him on bike as he was about to leave , he again said to me something,.. I Went close to ask..he said i myself going to give someone..what can i do...
I in the SPIRIT OF DIWALI...SAID LET GO...GAVE HIM Rs 500....He took it..He took ' ON THE ROAD' UNDER PUBLICE VIEW...And i was thinking about what happened to 'UNDER THE TABLE' ...This is OVER THE TABLE...UPFRONT,DIRECT IN FULL PUBLIC GLARE...
He took the money and went away..I also rode my bike and came home..Disgusted with myself...that i could not gather enough courage to take on the officer....Why i Could not say NO TO BRIBE ........
But may be it was good thing...I learnt a few things..And ANGER IN ME IS MORE AGAINST CORRUPTION....And in future i would take a stronger stand against such corruption...
I have written a complaint with passport office..though not mention my details..Because If we see It Was Not Officer at Fault..But System at Fault which has made bribe asking legal and acceptable socially and professionally...
They don't hesitate in referring this to 'UPAR KI KAMAI'...
But hopefully, The Process for change has begun..i will make effort for a change against this..
So TOTAL COST FOR APPLYING FOR A PASSPORT STANDS LIKE THIS :
1000 + 400 + 500 = 1900 RUPEES
Finally i close this passport application post, with a detailed experience and documentation required...
I could not BUT IF YOU COULD MUSTER THE COURAGE AND SAY NO TO GIVING BRIBE WHEN YOU VISIT THE POLICE STATION.....

Police Verification :Pasport Application Continues ....
In continuation of the previous post , i am sharing now my experience with the police for the purpose of getting clearance for passport.
I applied for the passport on 10th oct'2011 and today is 21st Oct. So roughly about 10-12 days is what is the time expected for police verification it means.
So, i got a call from my local police station's Munshi, He told me to report to the police station and collect some documnets which i should fill and submit back.
And so i went.
my first time inside a POLICE STATION... Scary place it would seem , but was not so.
The room was not very big, infact it was only suited for 2-3 people together, and a fourth person would crowd the place.
The officer offered me a chairt and after making me wait for 5-10 minutes , he brought the papers.
I signed at the required places, He asked me questions to fill in the form like occupation, father business, caste etc. simple questions.
After this i was told to get signatures of the witness i had mentioned and with their ration card proofs alongwith my ration card proof.
So, i told him to provide him withbthe required documents tomorrow.
But just as i were to leave, he said to me " maelne kal kariye"...or something like that....
Could not understand, i asked him again...he said same words..I asked again...
He was EMBARRASED...started laughing...bachha hai tu ???... i understood what he was saying..But i acted novice...like a confused lad...
Soon someone from outside came to his rescue....He said..OH DIWALI AA RHI HAI...DIWALI MELA....
Relieved...He said now u understood...Ahh..with a reluctant smile i said yes..i will do that tomorrow...(Wat else i could have said)....
Now, He seem to be nice guy.. I would not like to report him..(my parents will b angry..).. Nor that its like a bribe...But sitting on a chair of power it seems so...
I support janlokpal...and wish i could wear the ''anna'' cap to the police station tomorrow, indicating i won't pay but the lady -->Kiran Bedi who proposed this method is herself been caught inflating her travel bills .....hehehe
Though a little chai-paani would not hurt...I CAN PAY...
But then, what abt the one that cannot pay...Making it a unwritten rule is wrong...making it a precedent is wrong....So, I will be going tomorrow.,..I shall try to settle at minimum possible...
Am thinking of it..as saving my petrol expenses as taking witnesses with me or calling them would have costed money and time ....
But such open and blatent asking for money is appauling and very dangerous...This being a norm is very scary and failure of the process and systems...
Also, This gives me a teaching that whenever I shall come in contact of Govt Official , i should expect greasing their palms or so called chai-paani FOR JUST DOING THEIR DUTY AND NOT SOME ADDITIONAL WORK...INFACT THATS OVERTIME PAYMENT WITHOUT OVERTIME....
(tomorrow will update : how much it cost ) ..

Discrepancy in Punjab Mandi Board - Auction Recorder Result / Answer Key conducted by CDAC MOHALI on 28/08/2011
Ok.. So here I try and produce documentation of Discrepencies in the Auction Recorder Result (Punjab Mandi Board- Market Committee ) Conducted by CDAC MOHALI on 28/08/2011.
Results have been uploaded on CDAC Mohali website cdac mohali
Now Please Note : Discepancy in result is based on assumption that the answer key uploaded was the same key used for marking the answer sheets of candidates.
My Question Paper set was SET-B , So I can comment only on SET-B as Question Papers have not been uploaded by CDAC , Check your sets for these questions and verify if same exist
Auction Recorder Answer key has been uploaded on CDAC website answer key
Based on this on verifying the answers I found in SET-B :
Question No. 41 & Question No.- 61 are incorrect and thus make 2marks difference..
The result so declared is very close and this discripancy if occured in results will lead to Certain Candidates being wrongfully selected and others being wrongfully rejected.
This will be Unfair and should be stopped.
I on my part am doing the needful..But because My number are in 60+ range, I cannot be among selected candidates and hence Do not expect me to persue this further , since my +2 marks will not affect my standing ...
Here's the proof : 1ST QUESTION NO. 41
Link for the proof:
Question NO. 41
I have tried to increase the size , but still Please zoom picture to see the explanation
Now : QUESTION No.- 61 :
Its explanation is very simple..Given eqauation when multiplied by 2 on both sides give the Equation asked and hence its answer is 50, which is option number- 3 According to Question Paper.
Finally , Would like to say CDAC has not uploaded Question papers for Auction Recorder, may be bcoz those were allowed to be kept by candidates .
Auction Recorder Merit List has not be declared as yet, so if u believe u have a chance after removing discrepancies , Contact CDAC MOHALI immediately and stop them from declaring merit list to prevent any further legal and other troubles..
I Have also given RTI to CDAC for my Answer sheet and Authorities to be contacted in case of any discrepancies in the result declared.
The reply is expected by Next week i.e 15/10/2011, after which i shall be updating about that too.
Well i tried my best to document the discrepancy, am not a regular blogger so quality may be low but as best as i could put forward to you all
gudluck !!

Shopping @yebhi NOT so Yipieee...
Today I am sharing my experience about E-shopping @yebhi.com (formerly bigshoebazaar.com) .
Well, initially it was a online/e-shoe selling company with domain bigshoebazaar.com but recently they have expanded and now sell clothes, jewellery, watches, sunglases, perfumes and recently mobiles too.
Seeing the prices , There are serious doubts about the genuinety of the products sold of big brand labels but also the quality.
Well my experience has been mixed...and definitely not great..
I mainly buy shoes from it as it was its USP and main product and the process of returning defective products is long and takes time to return money, though they do return.
But here's something about their QUALITY I WANT TO SHARE.
The images are the shoes Purchased from @YEBHI.COM , sold under the brand name : "BLUEKITES"
These were worn only 2-3 times and they started tpo rip apart.
I tried to approach the customer care and reasoned with them..But they said since u wore them , so guarantee ends and later no response after repeated mails.
My Advice: Be very Careful buying Online , Never try to increase the risk , and so try and purchase below 1000 rupees usual cases and under very tempting cases never try and buy above Rs 2000-3000...
On @yebhi.com : Though their offers are really tempting many times but Their QUALITY SUCKS , REALLY DO...Recently they sent me product made in 2009 i.e More than 2 yrs old and i had to return the product , money of which i was paid in about 1 month.
They have a team dedicated towards taking on negative comments/complaints posted online on sites like mouthshut and others, So they really take their business seriously and consider all aspects of online/e-shopping ...But only if they concentrate more on the products....

Dell Hinges: Why You Should Never Buy a DELL ...
Well, it was my first laptop and dell was the buzz word..They said world class after sales..They come to your home for repair, only online buy etc etc.
But fact is : In India , You don't buy Rs40000 product online.
So like many, it was purchased through a reseller.
But today, i want to share WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER BUY A DELL PRODUCT.
The Laptop INSPIRON 1525 , started disintegrating immediately after the expiry of the 1 yr warranty that came with it.
1)First came the charger shock,..Burnt...Not available in market.. From Dell for abt Rs1500-1800 depoending on rate at the time.
Difficult to get a compatible...Strangely enough we were many with same dell during my Post graduation , and they all had their chargers burnt immediately at the end of warranty period....surpised..?? Or they quality was made to last 1 yr only
2)Then came the turn of battery..The battery lost all its holding power and i could not work without the charger and each time a power cut, the laptop just switched off....And that lead to my Hard drive got burnt...and i lost my 2 years just in a flash :( ( I HATE DELL )
3)Finally the hinges...Look at the pictures..The screen just started coming off,..
I tried every posssible desi JUGAD to hold it together but nothing seems to work..
I even applied M-SEAL ..lolzz...
And rest pictures say for themselves.
(The wireless mouse is bcoz the Tap button on the touchpad is also broken..The key spring is dead)
So MY ADVICE TO YOU FRIENDS : NEVER BUY A DELL....
Btw: I heard about New Dell TABLET CUM LAPTOP ...It has the keypad attached with a central 'HINGE' prices at abt @ 1 Lakh.... Anybody buying (should get a health policy frist , when the hinge break apart)

Go Green : Sell your Old mobiles for some CREDIT.
So, when i see a recycle bin in a nokia store, am tempted to use but then are they offering me anything for my contribution towards a Greener Earth ? Noo...So , i take back my olde cell phone back with me to be used or not but not giving it free.
But Recently an Online Shopping Site (LETSBUY.COM) has come out with a campaign whereby they pay us some credit / e-vouchers in return for recycling the elecctronic waste A.K.A mobile and Laptops.
While going through the campaign i saw not very great returns for Laptops but surely something good for an OLD CELLPHONE.
Here's the link:.LETSBUY GO GREEN
PS: i have not yet tried the service, So i can't write a review about it.
But if u have an old/broken cell phone and want to buy some electronics give it a try..They do have a rider on the minimum amount to be bought for the Credit coupon to be used...Hmmmm....
and Best Option for buying online is COD !!.. Even if they don't deliver , they will be @loss not you

Violation Of Motor Vehicle Act and Penalties , Challans
Of late, its been seen that Motorist , have been fined heavily for Violating traffic laws under the Motor Vehicle Act.But most of times this fine is much higher that what is the actual fine under the Act.
I myself have been a victim, i was fined for not wearing a helmet for Rs 300/ while The MV ACT-1988 says , It should have been Rs100/ only.
After this i have been trying to raise awareness among the people and in this endeavour , i write this post. please share and know the Penalty slab.
This is also an initiate against bribing Because many a times we bribe to avoid bigger penalties while the truth is that the MV ACT , penalties are much lower and this is one of the way of making you pay bribe by scaring you with the fine amount.
I have listed only a few major violations which are common among motorists.

How to delete History in Internet Explorer 8 (I.E 8)
Now, many a times we don't want history to be saved in our browser because of our privacy issues. Over recent times this has been made easy in browsers especially Ineternet Explorer , but still sometimes we do have an odd site/ web address saved and we just don't know how to get rid of it. Deleting history just wont work.
After suffering from same problem , now i have got the solution, so here it is very simple.
Open Internet Explorer----->Goto TOOLS---->Internet Options---->ADVANCED TAB---->RESET INTERNET SETTING ... and wallah.. all history gone..
cheers :)

How to reach Amritsar from New Delhi by Bus
The best way to reach Amritsar from New Delhi is Via Jalandhar. This is the route i followed and i shall be detailing it here.
There is lot of bus service, as i understand from new delhi to jalandhar.
There is a A.C bus service from ISBT terminal 9-10 booth to jalandhar.
Bus starts at 9.10 am. morning
cost of ticket : 420 rupees.
Reaches at abt 6.30-7 pm.
NO PROS ONLY CONS.
I suggest you to NOT TAKE THIS BUS SERVICE.. As i saw the driver was deliberatley delaying the bus , driving slowly. may be he gets extra money for overtime or may be to let private buses take the customers before reaching there ahead of the Punbus.
stil if you dont have an option , take it till Ambala cant... i believe they will give you ticket for Ambala Cant. too,
From ambala Cant. take some other bus/ train.
Bus Stand and Train Station at Ambala Cant. are oposite each other.
Already mentioned abt a bus service to Chandigarh from delhi of Haryana Roadways on this blog only. starts at 9.50 am., saame point.Though it was also somewat slow.
So i believe these are deliberate delays.
At jalandhar , you should drop down at PAP CHOWK.
and crossing the road, you wiul find bus service to amritsar.
From jalandhar (PAP CHWK)-Amritsar journey time is 1.30 hrs.
cost from jalandhar-amritsar Rs 60 (new revised rates as on 28 december 2010)
If you decide to take the bus journey from jalandhar bus station instead, add about 45min to an hour more, since because of construction there are jams and diversions.
So those using Jalandhar as connecting point for reaching Amritsar should preferrably drop down at PAP CHOWK and get a bus from there and not from jalandhar bus stand.

How to reach New Delhi from Ahmedabad
Well, here i tell you about reaching from ahmedabad to new delhi..
I dont think there's is a direct bus service between Ahmedabada and New Delhi because of the distance of more than 900 km.. but may be availabel from udaipur/jaipur.
You can get bus service to Udaipur and Jaipur from Ahemdabad.
There are many trains from Ahmedabada to New Delhi, but most preferrable is a RAJDHANI EXPRESS. SWARNA JAYANTI RAJDHANI EXPRESS.
Starting Time: 5.25 pm
Reaches New delhi- 7.30 am.
there is also Ashram Express..Gujarat sampark kranti.
Note that Ahmedabad-New Delhi Route is Less crowded so you can get tickets much easily.
You may find an agent at the Ahemdabad station who may help with reservations ...charges about Rs 500 +ticket cost.. Cannot give more details here. But if y6ou need a tiocket just try you luck and you may get it.
Cost of 3.A.C- 1500--(tatkal)
Train info: Food is of poor quality, you want all you money back..But cleanliness given to the agnecy is good. The outsourced company is doing good job of cleaning.
Temperatures may be uncomfortable inside i,.e higher than expected..So you may require to request the train staff and even the T.T for lowering its temperatures and make it more suitable.
The sheets take years to be distributed..
Only Pro: You may just reach ON-TIME :) (Though i did not, but compared to other on 27/12/2010..it was very punctual just 1hr late)

How to reach Ahmedabad from Pune by Bus
hi..so my was a very warward journey Pune--Ahmedabad--New Dehi--Amritsar.
i'll divide it into 3 parts and then a combined on.
here i specifically detail about reaching Ahmedabad from Pune.
Bus service is daily in the evening from pune.
I had taken Neeta 2x1 sleeper
There are ther bus services for ahmedabad too, but i shall detail abt Neeta as i travelled in it.:
Details:Bus starts at 6.15 pm from Chinchwad.
Reaches Ahmedabad at about 8.30-9.am
If it ennters before 9 am..it will go inside the city limits , otherwise it will drop you on the outskirts as buses are not allowed entry after 9 am.
Now if it neters Ahemdabad city, it passes through Train station and you can be dropped there.
Cost of the journey: 1300 rupees.
Stopages : abt 3 for going to the loo and refreshments.
Pros of the bus :
• can be availed easily compared to trains, as bus may be not preferred mode of journey.
• same day booking possible with a seat assurance.
• confortable for old/aged people, since a sleeper.
Cons of the bus journey:
• very very poor stopages.
• unhygeinic bathrooms. in such journey one requires very good stopages, and not cheap ones. also, if we see cost of journey is quite high, so consumer would spend if given nice service.
• do not opt for seat 21-a,b ..actually being a 2x1 sleeepr there are some seates which are shared by two(2) people.
incase of women, i doubt anyone would take this journey if the co passenger is a male.or may be they wont book it..so do check before booking the seat of what you are getting.
• its cold with a.c on. take your blankets., although they do provide it, quite late but.
• very dirty, bed sheets.
• journey is very boring, all you are expected to do in these 14-15 hrs is to sleep sleep n sleep. no entertainment facility in the bus.
• A Semi Sleeper should be more advantage for youngsters who dont mind sitting long hours, it won't hurt that much.
ok so now contact details:
www.neetabus.in- for online booking..but i suggest avoid online booking, i think its on higher side, you may get cheaper deal from agent and neeta office.
other agent info:prasanna travel pune: 9422546047
wakad office no. of prassana travel: 09881161110
anymore details..may ask
